Chris Payne, corporate vice president of Windows Live search, is quitting from Microsoft to start his own company in Seattle. The news was broken by Reuters but the source of the information remains unidentified. Microsoft has not confirmed it yet too.

Payne spent 8 years at Microsoft before moving to Amazon. He rejoined Microsoft in 2001. But it seems this time he is quitting for good. Reuters has also reported that another Microsoft executive Blake Irving, vice president overlooking the company's AdCenter system, plans to retire soon.

Barry Schwartz has a post on it and discussions are at Webmasterworld.
