Just like Yahoo's Panama and Google's AdWords, MSN's AdCenter initially allowed the dynamic keyword insertion after they launched the program. However for a couple of years now it's functioning has been far from being perfect. Many people have aired their views about dynamic keywords in URLs for adWords.

Recently, a WebmasterWorld thread asked whether the bug has been fixed for dynamic keyword insertion{keyword:default} in Adcenter or not? While, the answer from the adCenterRep is 'No,' he does suggest a work around for it.

"I understand the importance of having the {keyword:default} working correctly and we are still investigating into this," said the rep. "however we can work around…"

Users can work around it in the following manner:

  • Not to use {param1} as a destination U if using {keyword:default} in ad titles
  • Use static ad titles
  • Use the same syntax for the dynamic insertions throughout the ad (for example,
  • use {param1:default})

While there's no resolution as yet but there sure is an assurance from the rep that everyone will be updated once the matter is fully resolved.
