According to Webmaster World, there has been recent reports that indicate a major Microsoft Live Search update that constitutes the Microsoft 'Live Search July 2008 Update'. Just a couple of days ago, I had reported to our readers that there had been severe rankings fluctuations in Google due to the 'Google SERP changes for July 2008'. Now the irony of the situation was that, the Google SERP changes were running parallel to the Yahoo! 'June 2008 Search Index Update'.

Even, the Microsoft Live Search July 2008 Update is close on heels to the other two SERP updates from Google and Yahoo! that have the Webmasters on edge. Reports of unusual SERP activity and ranking fluctuations have been pouring in at Webmaster World.

Here are some posts from the thread running at Webmaster World:

“Has anyone noticed a large SERPs change in MSN today? For one of my main keywords I went from #1 to #41, except now it's a completely different page ranking for that term. As well most of the other competitors that were on the front page completely disappeared as well.”

“YES! And we went from number 60 to number 2! I'm lovin' it! Let's hope it stays like this because these are finally decent results! :) “

“Funny how those who have their sites show up think the results are good.

They are not, they still suck big time.”

“MSN is def testing something out… Seen some changes today… But then again i see changes everyday there!“

“I see huge difference in results between MSN.com and Live.com “

As of now, there is no information as to when the SERP fluctuations are expected to normalize. Hence, all the Webmasters can do as of now is to ride it out and wait for the update to get over.

I remember that some 2-3 years back, on webmasterworld a question was raised from MSN supporter or guy “What lacks with MSN?”

At that time some one said “Conversion”. Few months latter I found that MSN starts to convert well, not only for me but various for others too.

But now again from starting of 2008 we all suddenly found that MSN is slowly move towards it’s old algorithm “No Conversion” and Yahoo really starts to provied good results, not in my niche area but with others too.

So I think now the Time is for Yahoo!

Thanks

For me it does not matter if my MSN position is 60 0r 6. In both the cases I am not getting the conversion. Where as in google even the slight improvement in ranking will give you more traffic and conversion.
