Google proclaimed rise in the factors of mobile-friendly updates, but not to expect a Mobilegeddon

Google declared on the Webmaster blog that the effects of mobile-friendly algorithm launched in April 2015 will be increased.

The update is going to start from May and the effect on the ranking signal will go up. According to Google, if one is mobile-friendly, then there is no need to worry at all as there will be no impact by this update.

Since the update will happen gradually over a period of time, there will be no particular drop-off on websites which are not friendly on the mobile when the algorithm gets pushed. Google mentioned, the update will be rolled out in the beginning of May; it is still not clear whether it will take weeks or months.

The reason behind gradual roll-out and Google taking time to access each page is the fact that this algorithm is a page-by-page signal. Depending upon the pace at which Google crawls and indexes all the site pages, the visible effect is bound to be slow.

It is assumed that this rollout will not be as effective as the original update, termed as Mobilegeddon. A major impact was expected from the original Mobilegeddon, but very few agreed that it actually had that kind of an impact.

Check Google mobile-friendly tool and mobile guidelines if you think yourself to be not mobile-friendly or just want to check whether you are actually mobile-friendly.
