Almost two years after officially killing Google Authorship, Google’s Gary Illyes announced, it’s now safe to remove Authorship Markup from your pages.

Just a few months ago, Gary suggested not removing the authorship from the pages, that Google may still use it. Authorship was used for in-depth-articles.

Gary said, they have other ways to determine the author of the articles do not need authorship anymore. They don’t use authorship at all. It s now safe to remove it from the pages.
