Pinterest, one of the fastest growing social sharing and media site has nofollow links, at last. Since its launch last year, Pinterest gathered a huge following, all thanks to its highly interactive platform. Till recently the social site sported DoFollow links, perhaps to get more users on board. However, after a lot of maltreatment of dofollow links, the site is now using the nofollow attribute (the attribute is a way to tell search engines not to follow links from the page they may have found).
In 2005, Google brought in the Nofollow attribute to deal with link spam. Social sites like Twitter were asked by Google to use the nofollow attribute. When sites add rel="nofollow", Google and search engines know not to pass any link juice to the page it is linking to.
Now that, Pinterest has finally taken up the nofollow attribute, will it lose some of its followers now?
If you are new to Pinterest, and then here are some insights on using the social platform.
