Pinterest has rolled out a new design, which it had been testing since January. Pinterest is amongst the fastest growing social media website for sharing and collecting photos, news and other stories from around the web.

The purpose of the redesign is to make it easier for the users to navigate from one page to another. Also, much greater stress has been given on content discovery. The redesign aims at increasing the on-site time of every Pinterest User.

The old grid design is still present on Pinterest, however, the options of the close-up view of the pins has been increased which now includes:

  •  Pins from the same board: You can explore the entire board without leaving the page you’re on.
  •  Pins from the same source: Here you’ll find other things pinned from the same website.
  •  People who pinned this also pinned: This is literally what it says it is. Clever, we hope. We’ll be   updating our Android and iOS apps soon to include this.

Pinterest, few days ago, took a big leap towards monetizing the site by introducing Pinterest Web Analytics. Pinterest Web Analytics seems to be a nice big step allowing Pinterest users to pinpoint the pieces of content their users or followers find more engaging.

Here are some images of the new design:
