The economy is bad. Companies are shying away from recruitments. But, you are in a need of a professional SEO for your company. So the question that now arises is that how will you recruit one?

Came across a nice blog that throws light on this issue. Here are a few tips to remember:

  • The first tip would be to craft your job specification and job advertisement. Let the other person understand about your requirements and the relevant information about your company. But how to create one ? Click here:

“Writing a good job description, or job specification, is not hard. But it does require a little time and focus. A poor job spec may be too brief or full of irrelevant information, or tell you nothing about the ‘real’ vacancy that needs to be filled.”

Here is one more example: SEO job description

  • The next tip is to place those ads in apt positions. It may prove a little expensive but at the end of the day, it's worth it!

'“Catching” SEO’s in their natural habitat is the real challenge when you’re recruiting. The simple fact is, the best SEO’s aren’t hanging around on SEO jobs boards, they’re hanging around on SEO blogs and forums.'

Want more tips on this:

  1. Invite various agencies to pitch for your business. But make sure that you choose the best one.
  2. Know about the past history and case studies of these agencies to know about their success ratio.
  • Interview

It is not just about a candidate preparing for his interview. You should also do the same. Prepare in advance. Think about what you are going to ask them and prepare the queries in advance. According to recruiter Barclay Simpson:

“Competency interviews are based on the idea that past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior. Accordingly, the interviewer’s goal is to get specific examples of when and how you have demonstrated particular behaviors and interview questions are carefully designed to probe specific skills, competencies and characteristics.”

You can download Barclay Simpson’s “Guide to Competency based Interviews ” here.

“A quick tip – it pays to brief the candidate in advance. Ask them to prepare a presentation on a subject of your choice.”

  • Salaries / offers / Perks

If you think that a particular candidate is perfect for the job, then don't think any further and move quickly. Tell him that he is hired. Immediately move towards the 'salary' issue. Ask about his expectations first. Never underpay him as compared to other employees as the candidate may loose his trust in the company. If he is making nice revenues for your company, then pay him accordingly.

“There’s definitely an ever-increasing demand for good SEO candidates and better salary offers will attract the best people. Make sure you’ve done your research on the correct salary to offer for the level of experience the candidate will bring.”

“You as a business then need to decide if the role justifies that salary, given the amount of revenue he / she is likely to make for the company. Either way, SEO salaries in the UK is a difficult issue to cover as there’s no current, formal research available for me to draw upon.”

Make sure you’re well prepared to hire a perfect candidate for your company.
