No doubt, nothing can be more annoying than discovering that a site which has copied your content outranks you in search results. Google's head of Search Spam, Matt Cutts announced today on twitter that the search engine has come up with a new panacea to cope with scraped content.

Now Report Sites which Outrank You with Your Own Content with the Help of Google's Scrapper Report

The new tool, Google Scraper Report, asks webmasters to submit information about the scraper sites which have copied their content, but does not make any commitment for immediate fixing of the infringing content. Users are asked to feed the source URL of the content, the scraper URL and the keywords where the scraper site was ranking on. Apart from this, you also need to confirm that your site follows the webmaster guidelines and is not affected by manual actions.

Currently the only way to weed out infringing content from Google search results is the DMCA system. Google has not yet made it clear how the new tool is going to save your skin from the scraped content. It is inexplicit whether the system is a replacement for the time consuming DMCA or is it just a step taken to improve the ranking system.
