Yahoo! these days is testing a feature (only to the selected users) called “Search Pad” that was formerly known as “Research Assistance.” This application collects sites and content as users conduct online research in an automatic manner. It was not long back when Google announced that it will stop its Notebook application (almost similar to Search Pad) for new users!

Here are the benefits of Search Pad mentioned by Yahoo!

  • Automatically create a notes document, save visited search results and take notes without the need to use another application such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs as you search.
  • Easily edit and organize your notes as you go.
  • Save, access and continue using your notes anytime and anywhere using your Yahoo! account.
  • Easily re-visit pages you've taken notes from.
  • Share your notes to help friends and family.
  • Print your notes to take with you.

“Search Pad is a note taking application built into Yahoo! Search that automatically assists you in saving websites you visit and taking notes as you search. Search Pad helps you collect, edit, organize, save, print, and email your notes for immediate or future use.

Search Pad is helpful in completing tasks and making decisions that require collecting information over multiple search sessions such as making a large purchase, planning a vacation or gathering information on a health issue.” – says Yahoo!

The feature is currently in testing mode and is not visible to all users.
