SEOMoz has developed a new tool, the Page Strength Tool. The Page Strength Tool is designed to replace the often inaccurate and infrequently updated Google PageRank score in the toolbar.
The tool is designed to satisfy the curiosity of webmasters, surfers and web marketing professionals seeking a better metric to quickly assess a site/page's relative importance and visibility.
According to Randfish-
My favorite part about this tool is actually the browser toolbar hotlink. You just drag the link over to your favorites and use it on any page on the web to run the tool on that page and get all the factors. I've already used this 3X on the phone over the past week to great effect. I suspect it will be great for live demos, conferences, client meetings, etc. too.
In the effort to make web pages more search engine friendly the new tool pulls in linking from Yahoo, pages indexed in Google, domain age, links from .edu and government sites, Alexa Traffic Rank, Google PageRank, DMOZ and Wikipedia listings, and domain visibility.
The new tool enables-
- The Relative Importance/Visibility of a Webpage
- The Potential Strength/Ability of a Page to Rank in the Search Engines
- Data on Popularity, Links & Mentions of the Page Across the Web
In future the tool might replace PageRank- the most sought after tool of Google, the Google Toolbar.
