Groupon recently conducted a study to find out 60% of their direct traffic was actually organic search. With this discovery, Conductor updated an earlier study of 310 million visits, suggesting organic search might be responsible for 64% of website traffic. Conductor also relocated 60% of the study’s direct visits to organic search. The original study showed 47% visits were organic search.
In the original study, Conductor reviewed 30 websites from 6 different industries and found out organic search was responsible for 47% of all visits and 29% visits were attributed to direct traffic. Following the Groupon study, Conductor relocated 60% of traffic to organic visits which was previously attributed to direct search. This increased the organic traffic from 47% to 64% and reduced direct traffic from 29% to 12%.
