Here we come again with our list of this week's best articles on digital marketing that we found across the Internet. These have been categorized into content marketing, social media, search engine optimization, email marketing and link building. Have a look at them and we are sure you will love going through them.
Brands these days have to do more than reach out to their market segments. They also have to produce competitive content. That probably shouldn’t be surprising, as according to a poll conducted by Smart Insights, 29.6% of the selected 40% voted content marketing as the hottest trend in digital marketing this 2015.
I had a great conversation with my friend Jay Baer recently and he commented that he didn’t know what the “spine” of his content marketing strategy should be any more. “It used to be the blog,” he said, “but I’m not sure there IS a spine any more. There is an expectation that your content will be published and discovered everywhere.”
Search Engine Optimization
It goes without saying, SEO services that come with a hefty price tag can be off-putting, making the cheaper deals seem more tempting than ever. However, it’s worthwhile to bear in mind that when it comes to SEO, you really get what you pay for. In other words, be wary of really cheap SEO, as more often than not, it’s probably not going to do much at the end of the day.
Search engine optimization today is not just about backlinks or content (although those factors are integral). In fact, it involves a broad range of services which include web design, social media, and reputation management. Focusing on only one element – be it content or links – is vain because a) you sacrifice other factors that could drive MORE traffic to your website, as well as b) waste time and energy on a short term strategy.
Keyword research drives SEO. If a company optimizes for the wrong keywords, two bad things happen: The SEO campaign attracts traffic, but not qualified traffic. The SEO campaign attracts qualified traffic, but only on the fringes, handing competitors the bulk of traffic and the juiciest leads.
Facebook native video is more visible and gets more reach in the news feed, so it’s a good idea to have a Facebook video strategy for your local business. Really tailor your videos to appeal to local users. Add a fun video about a local event, share a quick tip or even cross-promote another business. Your video doesn’t have to be professionally done to get results. This local video about elk in Estes Park received over 220,000 views, and led to at least one direct booking.
The number of connections you have on LinkedIn matters. Remember, the more first-degree connections you have, the more second- and third-degree connections you have, making you literally one connection away from millions of people.
If you’re a blogger or online business owner, then you must have heard that building an online mailing list is the key to success in growing your web traffic. Despite popular belief, email marketing hasn’t become washed up with the evolution of social media. There’s a whopping 2.9 billion email accounts, which means you can reach three times as many people as Facebook and Twitter combined. Also, emailing marketing campaign ranked the best in terms of ROI with 68% companies rating the channel as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ .
I had one of those conversations recently in which a client told me that he sent out an email marketing newsletter every 3 months. Any more than this, he surmised, would simply annoy his clients and do more harm than good. I guess his clients either have very long memories and absorb and react to every single piece of information they receive by email, or they just don’t get that many emails, meaning that everything that lands in their inbox is a big deal (the last time this was true for me was around 1996).
I’m trying to master white hat link building – one tactic at a time. Last month it was landing online press , this month it’s broken link building. I was working hard at it…but… Have you ever done it? Broken link building is a drag.Top 10 Digital Marketing Articles of this Week: 17th July, 2015!,
