According to a Bloomberg report Twitter will soon stop counting photos and links in its 140 characters limit. This update will be rolled out in the next couple of weeks.

The news was confirmed by a person who wished not to be named but the company declined to comment.

Currently links take 23 characters even after shortening automatically by Twitter. This move will provide greater flexibility to the users. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said in January that the company was looking for ways to display text on Twitter.

Earlier this year Twitter even considered to raise the character limit to 10,000.
