In a recent official blogpost, Facebook has announced that they are bringing sound to videos in News Feed.
Other than this three more changes have been announced.
1. Sound to videos in News Feed
Videos in news feed were on silent by default till now, users had to tap the video to hear sound. Now sound fades in and out as the users scroll through videos in the News Feed. Facebook said, “As people watch more video on phones, they’ve come to expect sound when the volume on their device is turned on. After testing sound on in News Feed and hearing positive feedback, we’re slowly bringing it to more people. ” However if your mobile is set to silent, sound will not play.
The sound feature can be disabled by switching off “Videos in News Feed Start With Sound” in Settings. Facebook will also show product message to tell people about the new feature.
2. Vertical Video
Larger preview of vertical videos in News Feed was tested last year on mobile. On receiving positive response, Facebook has now made the format available to everyone watching videos in iOS and Android.
3. Watch and Scroll
Users can now minimize the video they are watching to a picture in picture in view that plays in the corner of the screen while they scroll through the News Feed. “You can drag the video to any corner of the screen, and if you’re using an Android device, you can keep the video playing even when you exit the Facebook app to do something else on your phone.”
4. Facebook Video App for TV
Facebook is introducing a new video app for TV, which will soon be available for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV. More platforms will follow. Enjoy Facebook videos on bigger screen. You can watch videos shared by friends, top live videos, recommended videos, videos save to watch later, and see videos watched, shared or uploaded earlier.
