If you own an iPhone and are in wait for the Google Maps App, give it up, because Google seems to have no plans of adding Google Maps to IOS anytime in the near future. Apple came out with its iOS that had Apple’s in house Maps application and has received severe flak for the maps providing incorrect direction and locations.
People were hoping that this would make Apple join hands with Google again, but that doesn’t seem a possibility. Google's executive chairman Eric Schmidt revealed his company’s stand in Tokyo when he told Reuters that Google has not taken any action towards working on Google Maps app for iOS 6. Eric has been quoted as, "We think it would have been better if they had kept ours. But what do I know?" Schmidt added. "What were we going to do, force them not to change their mind? It's their call."
This means that iPhone and iPad users have no other option but to find their ways using Apple's far from satisfactory Maps app. It seems that Google wants to draw users to Android OS in order to get to use its Google Maps app.
The Google and Apple tussle went a bit further when Eric was not very optimistic about the continuation of Google-Apple search partnership on the iPhone. He said, “I'm not doing any predictions. We want them to be our partner. We welcome that. I'm not going to speculate at all what they're going to do. They can answer that question as they see fit."
However, other reliable media sources have quoted Eric as being "interested in working with Yahoo US.” We’ll simply have to wait and see which way Google is heading once the dust settles. The Wait for Google Maps in iPhone Likely to Get Longer!,
