WordPress, has released a plugin which WordPress users can use to verify their blog with Google, automatically and quickly. The company says that there is “No need to copy and paste tokens anymore; this plugin makes calls to the Google Site Verification API to automate the entire verification process.”

While you're creating a blog, and once it is (blog) verified, you can view the search statistics and diagnostic information for the same using Google Webmaster Tools or other similar Google tools that are applicable. If you are a WordPress user, the plugin can be installed directly from the “Install Plugins” control panel of your WordPress blog. You can also download it from the WordPress plugin site where it is available in a ZIP file format.

If your ownership (of your website) is verified in Webmaster Tools, you can now get particular statistics and information such as relevant search queries, malware notices etc., about your site straight from Google, with the help of this plugin. It can be used only by self-hosted WordPress blogs and cannot be installed on the blogs hosted on wordpress.com. Some pre-requisites include “WordPress 3.0 (or higher), PHP 5.2.0 (or higher), the JSON PHP extensions, and the CURL PHP extensions.” It will not get activated unless you have these requirements.

For any query or issues, in case you notice after installing and using the plugin, the company invites you to visit their forum created for the plugin.
