Google has reached at a position where it is difficult for any other search giants to compete on its own. Yahoo! and IBM have enhanced their joint enterprise search solutions to compete with Google's Enterprise Mini.

This Monday Yahoo! and IBM have planned to release an upgrade of their IBM OmniFind Yahoo! Edition. This will be easier to customize interface. improved metadata support, which makes its indexing capabilities more granular and generates more relevant search results. It now also has an improved metadata support. This makes the indexing process more granular which inturn generates more applicable results.

Yahoo news reports:
One feature that didn't make it to this upgrade was a tighter integration of the Yahoo Web search engine with the product, something IBM and Yahoo tested but decided to hold off on including because not many customers have requested it, Brown said.

To interact with the product, end users have a browser-based interface with the familiar look and feel of the Yahoo search engine, or, as an alternative, the product's search box can be added to a Web page. Custom interfaces can also be built.

Presently, moving from one version to the other needs re-crawling the documents for the purpose of rebuilding the index.
