It's not everyday that you get a scoop like this. Yahoo! Search Marketing has been making a fool of itself and it's all out in the open now. There is a post at Threadwatch which shows the folly of YSM.

The webmaster of www.homebrew4u.co.uk, which is a UK oriented site noticed YSM ads on www.excite.de and www.excite.it. When he pointed this out to YSM, the response was:

We would like to inform you that when you have a UK account with Yahoo! Search Marketing your adverts will be shown on the UK and Ireland sites.

Then the webmaster goes on to provide URLs of the sites with advertisements, he could draw only a contradictory response:

We would like to inform you that when you sign up with Yahoo! Search Marketing, you sign up to display your search listings in Yahoo! Search Marketing's search engine and in all of our partner search engines.

Please note that unfortunately we cannot cancel the display of your search listings on any of the smaller search engines as you have listed.

Despite the webmaster's persistence, YSM folks refused to acknoweldge the error, whatever happened to the URLs of advertisements. Now whether that is Googlean indifference to users or a technical error, it certainly does not do much good for Yahoo!.
