Of all the social networks, Facebook is the only one that knows no generational limits. It dominates the industry by boasting the maximum number of users, worldwide!

To help users drive increased ad effectiveness and make it easier to use the same assets on Facebook News Feed and Instagram feed, Facebook is changing the aspect ratios of photos, videos and text shown in the news feed on mobile devices.

So, when it comes to optimizing your Facebook mobile news feed, you need to keep an eye on the following aspects:

  • Primary Text:

As per the announcement, the line text in the posts dropped down from 7 lines to 3 lines, i.e. now only 3 lines of primary text will show on Facebook mobile News Feed, after which people will be prompted to click to view additional text.

  • Aspect Ratio:

The maximum media height for photos and videos will be reduced to 4:5 from 2:3.

The tallest supported aspect ratio for images without links and for videos is now vertical (4:5). Media taller than 4:5 will be masked on Facebook mobile News Feed.

Facebook added, “Both the changes; to text, photos and videos; are designed to simplify our formats and improve the consistency of our mobile experience.”
