Google may launch a refresh of Penguin algorithm as early as sometime next week, said the search engine giant’s Gary Illyes, Webmaster Trends Analyst and Search Quality Engineer, at Search Marketing Expo East.

This is a major re-write of the algorithm Google has been working on for almost a full year  to release. Google is confident that the refreshed Penguin will be a delight for webmasters as well as users.

The launch may only get delayed if the algorithm runs into issues during the testing phase. Else, Google is going ahead and you must brace up for it.

Google wanted to make it better for all stakeholders and that is why they worked so long on putting in place the new algorithm, in place of making frequent updates.

You can expect more frequent Penguin refreshes now, thanks to new algorithm. However, as Gary said, if someone has disavowed bad links now or as of about two weeks ago, it may be too late for this refresh and they may have to wait for the next one.
