The new lane guidance feature on Google Maps for Android and iOS is sure to make life easier for drivers on the road. They need not switch lanes at the last minute to make exit.
Thanks to the app, people behind the wheel will now be able to see and hear voice-guided instructions indicating which lane they should stay in or move to. The new Navigation feature within Google Maps for mobile will be accessible for major roads across 20 Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore,Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mysore, Nagpur, Pune, Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Vadodara and Visakhapatnam. It will also be available on major expressways including the Mumbai-Pune expressway, making it easier for the motorists.
Using Navigation on Google Maps for Mobile, you will get complete guidance how to reach your destination in the least possible time. For instance, if anyone is using the Western Expressway to get to Mumbai Airport, or commuting to Gurgaon from Delhi through Dwarka Expressway, the app will provide turn-by-turn voice guidance.
Google is keen on making the Navigation feature available in as many languages as possible. For now, you can use instructions in English and Hindi. You simply need to enable the preferred language for that. On Android, open the phone’s Settings menu and select the Hindi option within the ‘Language and input’ sub menu. Along with English and Hindi, you can also opt into the English (India) language preference to hear instructions in the Indian accent, in case you are more used to it.
