Google posted in Google My Business Help forums that they will separate addresses and service areas for local service businesses. The Google My Business team mentioned that from now on there will be separate fields in Google My Business where business owners will be able to edit their service area and business address. Once these details are updated, users will have the option to enter their address and service area.
Now, business owners will have two options-
- l In case you don’t share your business address with customers, let the address field remain blank and only fill details of your service area.
- l If you provide your business address along with service area to customers, also make it a point to address and service area.
The Google My Business Team also stated that now business owners cannot set the distance close to their business. In case you earlier entered the distance close to your business, you will be unable to edit it. Rather, you will have to mention your service areas on the basis of city, region or ZIP code.
