Google has launched a broad core algorithm update last week. They confirmed on Twitter that the algorithm update was released on April 16th. Google Confirms Algorithm Release Update on April 16th

While many SEOs anticipated that the update targeted low quality pages, it was later confirmed that the update was focused on content relevance. Google is adjusting rankings to make sure that searchers continue to hold results which best answer their questions. Google says that majority of its algorithm updates are related to content relevance. Therefore, relevance is likely to be based on this month’s update also.

So if you rankings are affected by this update, it’s is not necessarily an indication that your content’s quality needs to be improved. Instead, it’s an indication that your content should be applicable for the target audience who is searching for it.
