This news is one that was long awaited. The Twitter Search has gained a new location and has got a facelift to match the Twitter.com search experience. This information was Tweeted by Twitter. This means that now if you key in http://search.twitter.com, you will be redirected to http://twitter.com/search. The new user interface has major improvements and will provide highly relevant search results and related photos & videos too!
With the right panel, searching at Twitter.com has become very easy, as you can now view more about a particular tweet. You will get to see the latest of everything when you opt for search-be it the images, tweets or videos. Apart from the more noticeable 'Save This Search' button, the results will show promoted tweets on top, the will come the Top Tweets, which are picked by the Twitter’s algorithm. This will be followed by Most Recent Tweets. And then will you see the People Results (earlier called Name Results). This will include companies, that appear over to the right of the search results. You can then search further by the 'People' link and the 'More people results' link.
The Advance Search is now more visible on Twitter. This page here allows you to search for exact phrases and you can also find tweets from or to people. What's more, you can also search for tweets near a place. All these features is a new avatar, certainly betters the Twitter Search experience.
The flip side of the new search is that you cannot find old tweets easily. With old Twitter Search, you could “page back” to see tweets over a short period of time.
In the new Twitter Search, you have to keep scrolling endlessly to see older tweets. Then also, you cannot go beyond 5 to 7 days old Tweets. For archived Tweets, you have to turn to Topsy.
